Boksburg Correctional Service (Prison)

Beginning 2004 a weekly support group was started consisting of five prisoners at the facility. Since then 4 groups have been established with an average of 25-30 inmates currently. Our aim is to support the Correctional service through rehabilitation of the inmates by giving them hope, counseling, restoration of social values, mentoring etc.

December 2007 “The Dunamis Cup” was launched on an annual basis, in conjunction with the Department of Sport, Recreation and Culture. It is a Soccer Tournament between, at the time, 11 teams inside the facility. This Tournament gave us the opportunity to reach out to Staff, other inmates and to build stronger relationships.

Since then the Tournament has grown and in December 2009 we will be having “Dunamis Games” where not just soccer will be played but numerous other games including Rugby, Cricket, Chess, Darts, to name a few. The prize giving ceremony in January is always a special occasion where medals, certificates etc. are presented to outstanding performances.

Clinton Hospital

Sunday afternoons support groups (cell groups) are running for the Staff of the Hospital. Most of the staff find it difficult to attend Services on a Sunday where they are staying as they are working shifts. Therefore the spiritual support that the cell group offers is of tremendous help to them. The 2 groups have grown in numbers and spiritual growth in the individual’s life is evident.

Union Hospital

Due to strong relationship with staff members, the families are also influenced. We are on a regular basis called out to support patients and the family of patients.

Germiston Hospital

DIFC is very much involved in supporting the Management of the hospital by supporting staff and having a positive influence in their lives. Ministering takes place on a weekly basis and a meeting is held every Wednesday in the Chapel where the Word that was released on Sunday by our Senior Pastor, is being distributed to the staff. We can see how people respond to God and the plan He has for their lives.

Germiston Police Station

This is a new door that we believe God has opened to support the spiritual workers in the Force. Due to the many challenges of the members, pressure and stress is taking its toll on them and their families. Relationship with the Head Chaplan, Rev. Shabalala who is in charge of 12 Police Stations, Germiston, Alberton, Bedfordview to name a few and 8 Police Units in the Ekurhuleni, are growing. She has asked us to get involved in supporting her with this huge challenge.
